When friends or relatives ask me why I'm so obsessed with running I first don't understand the question. My first reaction usually is, why are you NOT obsessed with running?
When I was student I already started to train for half marathons, simply because it kept me focused. I enjoyed the feeling of complete freedom when I was in nature, breathing fresh and cold air in the morning when the birds were still asleep. While others hated the simple thought of running because they saw it as a form of exercise, it always was more than that for me.
Running is relaxation.
Although that might sound weird for some people, others will probably understand. My head can be free when I put my running shoes on and just head outside without any other thoughts but the goal of enjoying the next 60 minutes. Because it's me-time. There is no job I have to worry about, no other people.
It's peaceful.
