Here are 5 tips that will help you to increase your fitness level and your well-being overall!
- As mentioned before, remaining healthy and fit beginnings with a balanced diet. What does "balanced" mean? Mainly, foods that are low in fat and high in fiber should play a big role in your diet as an alternative to saturated fats, sugars and red meat. Opt in for some chicken for example, eat a lot of vegetables and fruits. Nuts are an excellent source of healthy fats and can easily be integrated in your breakfast cereal.
- Protein: I mentioned it in the previous paragraph already. Proteins are a very important energy source if you want to maintain your muscles and increase your energy and overall performance. White meat that is low in fat is great. If you are vegetarian try to get your protein from soy sources, nuts or mushrooms. There are also great protein powders available on the market. Just try what works best for you!
- Drink a lot of water. Keep your body hydrated. When you feel thirsty it already means your body is already dehydrated. Prevention is key.
- Take Nutritional Supplements and Vitamins. Calcium, for example, is important for women and men of all ages and bone health, magnesium (also found in bananas) is essential if you work-out and run a lot.
- Stop smoking. Quit if you're smoking. Additionally limit your alcohol consumption.
